Stain removal guide.

Things to keep on hand

1. Enzyme detergent. (OMO or SURF), 1 table spoon to 1 liter of water.

2. Ammonia. 250ml to 1 liter of water.

3. Solvent cleaner- thinners

4. White vinegar. 250 ml to 1 liter of water.

5. Neutral detergent. (sunlight liquid) 1 tablespoon to 1 liter of water.

6. A small soft brush for removing spots - do not rub spot to hard or distortion of carpet will occur.

7. Blotting material - sponges and white paper towels.

Note: Dry carpet as completely as possible, immediately after removing spots to avoid other damage, by using a fan or a hair dryer.

 

Spot Removal Procedures.

Spots and spills should be given attention immediately. The longer the spill sets, the greater change of a permanent stain.

1. Blot up as much of the liquid as possible wit a white paper towel. (Paper towels with designs will transfer color onto the carpet.

2. Apply pressure on the towel to absorb more of the spot.

3. Repeat the step several times, turning the towel to a dry place each time.

BEER.

Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a white paper towel.

BLOOD.

Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a white paper towel.

CANDLE WAX.

Scrape off excess wax with a blunt knife. Lay a white paper towel over the wax and blow hot air on the towel with a hair dryer. The heat will melt the wax and the towel will absorb it. Clean with a solvent solution if the spot remains.

CANDY.

Apply a detergent solution mixed with cool water. If the spot remains apply vinegar solution, then blot with water.

CATSUP (TOMATO SOURCE)

Apply a detergent solution mixed with cool water. If the spot remains apply ammonia solution, then blot with water.

CIGARETTE BURNS.

Can be partially removed by clipping of blackened ends with a small sharp scissors. Then working in detergent solution and blot with water.

COFFEE & TEA.

Apply detergent solution and blot with cool water. If stain persists, apply vinegar solution and blot with water.

COUGH SYRUP.

Apply detergent solution and blot with water. If spot remains apply ammonia solution and blot with water.

CHEWING GUM.

Freeze spot with ice cubes, then shatter with a blunt object. Vacuum out the chips. Apply a solvent solution. Wait 3 to 5 minutes then blot with water.

CHOCOLATE.

Apply cool solution of enzyme detergent with sponge. Allow 10 minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and white paper towel.

CRAYONS.

Remove as much as possible with a blunt knife.

Then vacuum the spot. Apply a small amount of solvent cleaner, then blot with white paper towel. If spot remains apply neutral detergent solution and blot with white paper towel.

EGG.

Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent. Allow ten minutes for the solution the work. Blot with white paper towel and water.

FINGER NAIL POLISH.

Sponge with nail polish remover. Blot with white paper towel. Repeat if spot remains.

FRUIT JUICE.

Sponge immediately with cool water. Apply ammonia solution and blot with water. and with paper towel

GLUE(WATER BASED).

Blot with warm water. Sponge with detergent solution. Blot with warm water. and with paper towel

GLUE (SOLVENT BASED)

Scrape of as much as possible with blunt knife. Blot with solvent solution. Repeat until spot is gone.

GREASE & OIL.

Sponge with solvent solution. Apply detergent solution and blot with water and with paper towel.

ICE CREAM.

Sponge freely with cool water. Apply detergent solution. Blot with water. and with paper towel

INK.

Apply a solvent solution to a sponge and blot lightly to keep ink from spreading. Blot with water and with paper towel

LIPSTICK.

Apply a solvent solution to a sponge and blot lightly. Apply detergent solution. Blot with water and with paper towel.

MERCUROCHROME.

Sponge immediately with cool water. Apply ammonia solution and blot with water and paper towel.

MILK.

Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for solution to work. Blot with cool water and a paper towel.

Mud.

Allow to dry, then brush. Rinse repeatedly with cool water.

MUSTARD.

Apply detergent solution. Blot with water. It is probable that stain will remain. Mustard is very difficult to remove from most carpets.

PAINT.

Sponge with solvent. Blot with water. Apply detergent solution and blot with water.

SHOE POLISH.

Sponge and blot immediately with solvent solution. Do not over wet it may cause the stain to spread. Call professional carpet cleaner.

SOFT DRINKS.

Sponge immediately with cool water. Apply detergent solution and blot with water. Apply an ammonia solution. Agitate, then blot with water.

SOY SOURCE.

Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a paper towel.

TAR.

Sponge with solvent. Blot with paper towel. Apply detergent solution and blot with water.

URINE.

Sponge repeatedly with cool water. Agitate detergent solution into stain and blot with water. Apply vinegar solution and blot with water.

VOMIT.

Sponge with cool water. Apply enzyme detergent solution and let stand for ten minutes. Blot with water and paper towel.

WINE.

Apply detergent solution and blot with paper towel. If stain persists, apply ammonia solution, then blot. If stain persists apply vinegar solution, then blot with water.

THE ABOVE WILL ONLY BE EFFECTIVE IF APPLIED IMMEDIATELY AFTER SPILLING AND MIGHT NOT BE EFFECTIVE FOR OLD STAINS.
